Insurance Company’s Employees Raise Funds for Maui fire victims

UNITED SUPPORT FOR MAUI WILDFIRE RELIEF EFFORTS

In early August 2023, a series of wildfire broke out in Hawai’i predominantly on the island of Maui. The Maui wildfires left a trail of historic destruction across the island, and in its wake, thousands of Hawai’ians were left displaced with uncertain futures.

In the wake of the fires, the Skyward Foundation launched a fundraiser to provide financial resources to help with rapid response and recovery on Maui. The Skyward Foundation made an initial donation of $10,000 to the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong: Fire Relief Fund. In addition to its donation, the Foundation committed to matching, dollar-for-dollar, every employee donation to the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s fund.

In just three short weeks, Skyward Specialty employees and members of its Board of Directors together raised an impressive $25,879. This combined with the Foundation’s match and initial donation brought the total donations to $61,758 for the community of Maui.

Maui is Dan Bodnar, Chief Information and Technology Officer at Skyward Specialty, hometown, so this catastrophe hit very close to home for him and his loved ones. Following the outpouring of support from our employees, Dan shared his appreciation of the generosity our employees showed. View the video from Dan below.

Once again, our employees prove that the Skyward Specialty culture extends far beyond the office. The culture of giving is underscored by our employees’ generosity and fervor for making a difference in communities both close to home and afar.
