Insurance Company’s Employee Resource Group Organizes Fundraiser and Event

To recognize Pride month in June 2023, Soaring Skyward, one of Skyward Specialty’s six Employee Resource Groups, spearheaded a clothing drive and fundraiser for two organizations, Tony’s Place located in Houston and Lost-n-Found Youth located in Atlanta. Both organizations are dedicated to the support and empowerment of at risk LGBTQ+ youth.  

Tony’s Place, opened in 2016, provides a diverse set of services to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ youth under the age of 25 (ages 13 – 25) in the Houston area. Services include basic needs, case management, support groups, education and partnerships with other service providers and community organizations. The organization is also heavily involved in advocating for the community. 

Established in 2011 in Atlanta, Lost-n-Found Youth is a nonprofit organization that provides services to LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Its mission is to end homelessness for all LGBTQ+ youth, by providing them with the skills and support needed to live independently. The organization focuses on both physical and mental health, and raises funds to assist with shelter, clothing, and food for ages 18-25. 

Through donations and t-shirt sales, $5,720 was raised by Skyward Specialty employees and the Skyward Foundation.  

To continue to show support for the LGBTQ+ community, Skyward Specialty employees also participated in the annual Atlanta Pride Festival Parade in October. This event draws more than 100,000 people to the streets of midtown Atlanta each year.  

Skyward Specialty is proud to support Pride and surrounding activities. Pride celebrations are a time for the LGBTQ+ community and allies to come together in solidarity, activism, reflection, and support of all LGBTQ+ people. Employee-led initiatives, such as the youth fundraiser and Pride parade, embrace the overall values of Skyward Specialty and exemplify a culture of inclusivity and diversity while recognizing that diverse perspectives lead to more comprehensive solutions.
