Houston International Insurance Group, Ltd. (“HIIG” or the “Company”) has donated $50,000 to charities that are local to its offices across the country to assist people hardest hit by the economic shutdowns caused by COVID -19.
The Company took suggestions for the donations from its workforce for local charitable organizations that the employees thought would best serve those that have been affected by COVID and the country’s quarantine orders. Organizations that received donations included: the Ronald McDonald House (Houston), Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Lazarus House Ministries (Wakefield), Covenant House (Atlanta), Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, Grace Klein Community (Birmingham), Star of Hope (Houston), The Joybus (Arizona), Atlanta Community Food Bank, Market Street Mission (Morristown), and HAWC.
Cristina Perez, VP of Human Resources commented “It is very gratifying to be able to provide help to those in need during these trying times. The fact that the charities were suggested by our employees makes the giving more personal, as they are organizations that provide assistance in the local communities where our employees reside.”
Andrew Robinson, CEO, said: “As a Company, it is important for us to be a vibrant and engaged company to the communities in which we operate and our employees work. These organizations are vital to providing assistance close to home. We are honored to be a small part of their cause.”
